The idyllic Kata district is famous for its excellent restaurants and boutique shopping, along with its white sandy beaches. The land in and around Kata is therefore perfect for high-end developments. Kata provides a blend of mostly upscale accommodation and a smattering of affordable bungalows. With fewer visitors than Patong, the beaches at Kata provide somewhat of a sanctuary from the bustle of some of the other more populous tourist beaches. It is only 15 minutes to Patong Beach and 40 minutes to the airport.
